Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh achieves 10% increase in sales with order & pay app ROUND

Maggie’s, the Students Union Bar & Café at the Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh is the most informal place on campus. It’s the perfect place for student’s to enjoy some food, drinks, to play pool, and relax with friends. Many of the University Freshers’ events happen in and around Maggie’s.
Like many Universities across the UK, the Queen Margaret University needed support to allow them to re-open safely and ready for the start of the academic year. Julie Smith, General Manager, Maggie’s Bar was looking for an order & pay app to assist with social distancing guidelines and chose ROUND for its ease of use and set-up, and found the support offered by ROUND all the way through the process was above and beyond her expectations. In addition to the simple set-up process, the team found using ROUND quick and easy and they shared that “students have taken to the app like ducks to water”. This reflects a recent study by CGA which found 80% of adults would be happy to pay for their food and drinks orders via their smartphone, and 67% felt they would spend more if they could order via their smartphone. This is something which Maggie’s Bar has shown to be true with an increase in orders of 10% compared to the same period last year, and a massive 740% increase in click+collect orders. ROUND is proud to be supporting the UK’s Universities and helping them meet the Government safety guidelines, whilst also increasing revenue and efficiencies for the venues. Following Scotland’s lockdown announcement in October, ROUND was able to assist Maggie’s Bar by creating a second retail outlet on the ROUND app within 24 hours of the new restriction announcement. This meant Maggie’s Bar was able to continue trading in a safe and compliant manner.
